Bird Watching

Happy Labor Day, everyone! I haven't been crafting much lately, but I have been bird-watching around the house. A couple of mornings ago, I saw many species within only a few minutes. The birds I saw were: Cardinals, Bluebirds, Blue Jays, Black-capped Chickadees, Mourning Doves...and the next two species. You may click on the photos for an up-close view.

Cedar Waxwing

Sharing food, as they do so well!

During a recent visit, the kids were fascinated by the Hummingbirds at my Mom's, so we decided to put up a feeder of our own. I've heard that you're supposed to get your Hummingbird feeders out early in the season, if you want them to be discovered.Within a few hours, the feeder was discovered...and now we have many visitors. This one is resting for a spell in the early morning (notice all of the dew).

Here he is coming in for a sip. (Sorry for the poor quality of these. I was going to stay out longer so that I could get better pictures, but the kids were needing my attention.)

The kids start school tomorrow, and they are pretty excited. I hope they remain this enthusiastic for a while...but we'll see.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy your day!!

Thanks for visiting!

Great pictures! Isn't it fun to birdwatch around your house? WE had a great place for it when we lived in Rapid City and saw all sorts of birds. Here in OH, we don't have a single tree on the lot, so not so many birds. But Saturday, my DH rescued a hurt barred owl after a bike ride. I'll be posting about it (with pictures) on Wednesday!

Beautiful photos, Rose Ann! It's hard to catch a hummingbird sitting still. I love the early morning photo with all the dew around. My favorite time of day. I still have hummingbirds visiting my fuschias and penstemon.
