Sympathy Card & A Halloween RAK

I have been trying to get this post up for hours...and I've had nothing but interruptions. So...that is why it is being posted so late. Better late than never, right?

Before I get started with the cards I have to share, I would like to thank everyone who left me with helpful ideas of how to get my son to complete his homework, without a huge struggle. I appreciate all of your comments very much, and hope to incorporate some of the ideas immediately!!

I needed a sympathy card, and wanted something a bit more classic and uncluttered. I knew I wanted to use the SU Close as a Memory set, so then I just chose my colors. This card was very much inspired by a card in Dave Brethauer's new Card Design book, that you can purchase at Ellen's store. The base of my card is Purely Pomegranate. The cream piece is pearlized shimmery cream that you can find at Verve Visual, and is just slid into the slots. I used my retired corner rounder punch from SU for the scallops on the Old Olive piece. The pretty ribbon was purchased from Lindsey at Jacksonbelle Embellishments. *ETA--The stems of the flowers were extended with my Old Olive Stampin' Write marker.

Isn't this Halloween card adorable? I love it!!! Janeen made it for me using Brenda Keenan's original design. I think the embossing on the black panel is way cool! That little spider is so cute, and I love the fun Halloween paper! Thanks so much, Janeen!!

Your sympathy card is very pretty, Rose Ann. It's always nice to go a little understated with the design on sympathy cards, I think. Understated can be very lovely sometimes, as you've shown with your card. I love Brenda's Halloween card, too. Super cute! Love the wheel in white on black.
