Fishin' Birthday

It's my BIL's birthday, and being the avid hunter/fisherman that he is...of course that would be the kind of card to make him. This is an older SU set, but I've always loved it for it's variety. It's also a good choice for the men in our lives (not to say the ladies aren't into fishing. I actually love to fish as well.)

I used my 6 x 6 pad of BasicGrey Perhaps paper, and a piece of Old Olive that I Cuttlebugged with my new Tiny Bubbles embossing folder (found at Eclectic Paperie) for my background. I ended up sponging some Chocolate Chip Ink on the Old Olive, and using the direct-to-paper technique with my Very Vanilla to help it to match the designer paper better. I only inked up the fishing pole (not the line and hook that is part of the stamp), so I could add real fishing line, and my wire hook that I made with my Wire Works (silver). I highlighted all of the accents that are silver, with my Gelly Roll Stardust pen. My DH told me that I needed a sun in the picture, and he even told me where he thought I should stamp it. (Of course I did what he wanted, since the card is for his brother.) The sentiment is from the CTMH Happy Birthday set, purchased from my friend Mary Ann.

The image doesn't look very large today, so you may want to click on it to zoom in a bit. Thanks for stopping by to see my blog!

I like the red edge to your sun and how "happy birthday" is stamped over top. Great guy card, which I find to be quite challenging.

This is great, Rose Ann. It's just right for your BIL. I like your Cuttlebug background (I've GOT to use that thing more) and the real fishing line--super touch there. Guys like green, too.
