Late Sketch Card

Better late than never, right? I loved all of the cards that I'd been seeing that used Beate's WSC33, and right away...I knew the stamps I wanted to use. Of course I didn't get to it soon enough, and I noticed a gorgeous card of Valerie's that had the prettiest color combo. So I'd made up my mind what I was doing. I just didn't get on it right away. I'm late with my card, but here it is anyhow.

Lizzie Anne Designs had a new release last month, and the "Far East" set was a 'must have' for me. The sentiment is from "Say it in Script", also a new release. I stamped the images with Adirondack Espresso, and colored them with my Copic Sketch markers. They are trimmed and mounted with Dimensionals onto my layers of squares that were die cut with my Nestabilities. The sentiment was punched out with my SU Circle punches. The ribbon is Chocolate Chip Taffeta. I used my Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets and the centers are clear rhinestone brads from my Pretties kit. Okay...are you wondering how my Crop-A-Dile could reach that far into my card to set those eyelets. It was easy, because I used my new Big Bite. That thing rocks!!

Carte-licious Four {A-La Joan}

That's right...it's time for another bloggers challenge with Joan, Melissa, and Sue. It was Joan's turn to send out the images in this round, and she chose Asela's "Daisy Jar", found at Cornish Heritage Farms. I love this image, and had so much fun coloring it with my Copic Sketch markers to resemble Purple Coneflowers. This image is quite large, and I used my largest Oval Nestabilities die to cut it. The image over-lapped the embossing a bit, so I decided to color another of the images that Joan sent, and trim it out with my scissors and hobby blade. I mounted the trimmed blooms to my oval piece with Stampin' Dimensionals. The patterned paper is from the BasicGrey Figgy collection. As I was working with my design....I realized that it was looking very familiar to a sketch that Debbie Olsen did a couple of days ago, so I am crediting her with the layout. The bling is Adornit Gems from Eclectic Paperie, and the ribbon is Martha Stewart (a gift from Libby). Aren't these little Valentine treats sooooo adorable!! I love them both, and they were sent by the uber talented (and super sweet) Dawn Griffith. I love the cute images, and how Dawn decorated both of these!! Dawn even has tutorials for these at her blog, that you may find here and here. Thanks so much, Dawn! I will use these along with your tutes, when I make some of the holders myself. :D

My tip is for all of you who would like an easy on-the-go watercoloring idea. Instead of having to haul out your ink pads or re-inkers...try this:

• Grab your markers and Aqua Painter, and your stamped image ready for coloring.

• You can use any non porous surface to scribble on for your "palette". I usually use my SAMJ sheet or the clear stamp case from my stamps.
• Scribble the colors on your non-porous surface.
  
• Watercolor lighter colors first using a light wash....and add more color in the desired areas to get the look you want. When I'm done coloring with my Aqua Painter, I usually outline directly with my marker.

Isn't it cool that you can just grab your whole marker case, and have all of those colors right at your finger tips? It doesn't get much easier than that, does it? ;)
